Clear ceramic braces

Braces are one of the best solutions for straightening teeth and fixing a range of orthodontic issues. But metal braces have one distinct drawback — they are very noticeable. Many people feel self-conscious about how metal braces affect their appearance, and the thought of wearing them for months or years can be daunting.

At Fredericksburg Orthodontics, we completely understand these concerns. We offer clear ceramic braces to give patients a cosmetic alternative to metal braces.

Advantages of clear ceramic braces

Ceramic braces work the same way as metal braces but with significant cosmetic differences. Instead of metal components, clear brackets are bonded to the front of the teeth, and an archwire is secured with white or clear elastics for a less noticeable look.

Like metal braces, ceramic braces can solve many orthodontic issues. Whether you have crooked teeth or an uneven bite, ceramic braces can shift your teeth into a healthier, straighter and more attractive position.

Clear ceramic braces give you the best of both worlds. You get the dependability of metal braces without the aesthetic disadvantages. You can gain confidence in your smile, knowing your ceramic braces are barely noticeable.

Our ceramic braces treatment plan

At Fredericksburg Orthodontics, we typically offer ceramic braces to older children, teens and adults looking for a discrete way to align their smiles. If we determine ceramic braces are right for you, we’ll start you on a personalized treatment plan.

We begin by placing spacers between your teeth to create room for the bands that will fit around your back molars. Then, we’ll schedule an appointment to put your braces on. Getting ceramic braces is a noninvasive procedure, so the process is usually straightforward, quick and painless. A typical ceramic braces placement appointment lasts for about one to two hours.

Once your clear braces are attached, you can return to your daily routine right away. Your jaw and teeth may feel sore for the first few days, but this is a normal part of the process.

The amount of time you wear your braces depends on the severity of your condition. Generally speaking, most people wear them for one to three years.
